Social impact 2021
As partners of umdasch The Store Makers we contribute with our group fees & dividends also to the activities of the Umdasch Group Foundation, which has made education its principal area of focus. All projects aim to guarantee a positive effect for children and young people the world over. In 2021 the Umdasch Group Foundation has invested € 713,577 for this purpose.
SDB made from 100% recycled waste wood
Steel Wood Density Board (SDB) by definition is an environmental-friendly composite-wood material, that is made up of 100% post-consumer recycled random mix wood species (including SDB waste panels (excluding for MDF). Trees are not to be cut to manufacture SDB as the “raw material” upcycles 100% unusable wood residues and waste wood from the local market.
With that many global brands or regional operators have already received from the Store Makers in the Middle East their stores built with this 100% recycled substrate raw material.
Azraq: more than 1,000 mangrove trees planted
Azraq is on a mission to safeguard and protect the oceanic ecosystem in the UAE.
With our help and the help of many others Azraq managed to have more than 48,000 cigarette butts collected, more than 1.2 tones of marine debris removed, more than 1,100 mangrove trees planted and more than 18 artifical coral reefs sunk to promote a healthy marine life.
Fashion Pact membership
Starting from April 2021, umdasch The Store Makers joined the ranks of over 70 members within The Fashion Pact. Eminent participants like Chanel, Armani, H&M, and Adidas collectively account for over a third of the fashion industry, with a shared ambition to enhance the fashion and textiles sector's impact on the climate through collaborative endeavors.
The Store Makers in the Middle East have committed themselves to the same goals as set out by all signatories of that global coalition for saving the planet.
Comprising over 70 renowned entities within the fashion and textiles sector, this global association encompasses more than 200 leading worldwide brands, representing a substantial share of the fashion industry. All signatories share a collective commitment to accomplish vital environmental objectives, which include mitigating climate change, restoring biodiversity, and safeguarding ocean ecosystems.
The Store Makers in the Middle East have pledged to follow the same principles.

That’s why, with support from their recyclers based in UAE & overseas and technologically advanced solutions, it makes recycling easy, eco-friendly & fast. Their innovative waste recycling practices promote a green future for all coming generations.
Over a period of 6 months the Store Makers in the Middle East are therefore ensuring 100% recycling of approximately 1.4 tonnes of Plastics, 3.4 tonnes of Paper, 1.6 tonnes of Metal, 81 tonnes of Wood and 800kg of Styrofoam.
They are a non-profit marine conservation organisation registered with the Community Development Authority in the UAE on a mission to safeguard and protect the oceanic ecosystem.
Azraq aims to EDUCATE through awareness programs and community presentations, MOTIVATE individuals, organisations and communities at large to make a difference and ACTIVATE them by offering a range of activities on, in and around the ocean.
